OMI-founded parish turns 66

MLANG, North Cotabato-Thousands of parishioners from various villages here trooped to the Sta. Teresita Church as the parish founded by the Oblates of Mary Immaculate (OMI) in 1949 celebrated its 66th year of existence on October 6.

People coming from all walks of life actively participated in the fiesta mass—bannered by the theme “Sta Teresita sa imo pagtoo nga mabinungahon sa layko, inspirasyon padulong sa katilingbanon nga Diosnon,” officiated by Fr. Carlito Garcia, DCK the diocesan administrator of the Diocese of Kidapawan.

In his homily, Fr. Garcia asked the parishioners to strengthen their faith in God through the intercession of Sta. Teresita.

He also encouraged the faithful to help the Church in fishing and encouraging those “lost sheep” to return to the folds of God.

Parishioners coming from different basic ecclesiastic communities (BEC) feasted together after the Holy Mass as show of  oneness in the presence of the Creator and their patron Saint Teresita.

Teresita Stephens, now living abroad, thanked Sta. Teresita for the blessing she had received and the good health given to her.

“Happy fiesta Sta. Teresita sa Mlang. Dira ginkuha ngalan k okay dira ako ginpangayo ni mama nga maka-anak sila sang babaye,” Stephens said in her post on the social networking site, Facebook.

Dr. Glecerio Sotea, Mlang municipal health officer, meanwhile thanked the town’s patroness for always protecting his family of devoted Catholics especially in every difficulty they have encountered.

“We always ask for her intercession and believe that Sta. Teresita is our way to reach God,” Sotea said.
