Second rounds of patak kontra polio kicks off in Mlang

Mayor Russel M. Abonado and Vice Mayor Joselito F. Pinol, led the ceremonial of the 2nd rounds of patak kontra polio, a program of the Department of Health that aim to prevent the spread of polio virus among children ages 0-59 months old. At least 20 pupils of the Mlang Day Care Center received the oral polio vaccines from the mayor and the vice mayor, during the flag raising rites on Monday morning in front of the town hall.
Dr. Gelcerio “Jun” Sotea, the town’s Health Officer said they are targeting at least 8000 children in all 37 villages. Health workers were fielded in various stations such as the public terminals, purok centers, barangay halls and even in the checkpoints to ensure that no children in said ages will be left behind.
Mayor Abonado lauded the efforts of the health workers in actively implementing the program just to reach the far-flung villages of the town. Vice Mayor Pinol, on the other hand, said the Sanggunian Bayan is always supporting any health programs in the town by allotting funds.
The two top officials of the town also lauded the Rural Health Unit and all personnel that worked hand in hand to achieved success of the various health programs up to the barangay and even in the purok levels, respectively. The town of Mlang, for the past 13 years has zero polio and measles cases, based from the records of the RHU-Mlang.
