Selected employees from various offices of the Local Government Unit of M’lang attended a seminar-workshop on January 13, 2012 intended to enhance their skills and knowledge in news writing.
Former NDBC-DXND station manager Carlos Bautista who is also an experienced writer lectured on the news structure, paragraph construction, headline writing and other important topics on news writing. He was assisted by Willamor Magbanua, a regular correspondent of GMA news and stringer for several national dailies.
According to Bautista, information plays an important role in local governance as it promotes transparency, accountability and people participation. The higher is the awareness of the public, the higher is the development of the place.
It is expected that after the seminar, more and more news will be posted on the municipal government’s website so that everybody who has access to the world wide web is keep updated on the plans, programs and projects of the municipality of M'lang.

REGISTRATION AND VALIDATION OF ELIGIBLE BENEFICIARIES OF THE PANTAWID PAMILYANG PILIPINO PROGRAM (4Ps) ON-GOING
The Department of Social Welfare and Development Office- Region XII in coordination with the Local Government Unit of M'lang through the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office conducts an on-going registration and validation activities to the eligible beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) or the Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) in the municipality of M'lang from January 02, 2012 to January 10,2012.
A total of 3,900 indigents in the municipality of M'lang are expected to be eligible member-beneficiaries of the pantawid pamilya program of the national government.
According to Mrs. Cynthia Biag, the Municipal Social Welfare Development Officer, this program is indeed of great help to the disadvantaged sector of the society.
It is a poverty reduction and social development strategy of the national government that provides conditional cash grants to extremely poor households to improve their health, nutrition and education particularly of children aging 0-14 years old. LIGA NG MGA BARANGAY OF M'LANG CONDUCTS A YEAR-END EVALUATION AND PLANNING WORKSHOP
The Liga ng mga Barangay of M'lang, Cotabato will conduct a 3-day evaluation and planning workshop on January 5-7, 2012 at Dumoy Beach, Davao City to assess the plans, programs and activities implemented for the past year and formulate plans for the current year. The said workshop will be attended by the 37 barangay captains coming from the different barangays of M'lang.
According to Mr. Jesus Remus Laguting, the Municipal Local Government Operations Officer, the said workshop aims to (1) determine the level of accomplishment relative to barangay governance, administration, social services, economic development and environmental management; (2) identify the strengths and gaps in the implementation of the abovementioned mandates which could be helpful in planning purposes in the future and; (3) come up a more realistic and attainable development planning for 2012 based on the observations in the 2011 implementations.
For this year, one of the priority concerns of the Liga ng mga Barangay will be on environmental management to address the issue on climate change. At the end of the activity, the participants will be asked to formulate their program of activities in the implementation of a coherent, comprehensive, integrated, efficient and responsive disaster risk reduction program in their area of responsibility.
The conduct of the said workshop is an annual undertaking of the Liga ng mga Barangay of M'lang as an effective mechanism in the improvement of the delivery of services to the people.> Add a comment >
Mlang LGU awards home lots to employees
MLANG, North Cotabato—(Mindanao Cross)--It’s a Merry Christmas and Prosperous New Year for the 24 employees of the local government unit here after they received a gift from the chief executive granting their dream of having a home lot.
Mayor Joselito Piñol last week awarded the certificate of occupancy for the lucky employees who have been chosen to receive at least 100 square meter home lot as Christmas gift of the LGU to them.
Twenty-eight other employees are to receive their lots, mayor Piñol said.
The LGU is still finalizing the list as it conducts a thorough checking on the next beneficiaries to ensure that the project really goes to the poor employees.
The mayor said this would help government employees to start building decent homes and to let them fell that the government has a heart for them.
Meantime, hundreds of residents living along the riverbanks and road- right- of- way have already been relocated in sites in Barangay Dunguan for them to have a place for better living.
The LGU has also provided the residents in the relocation site potable water system, access roads and electricity.> Add a comment >
Mlang LGU personnel share bonus for Sendong victims
MLANG, North Cotabato—(Mindanao Cross)--Seeing the wrath of typhoon Sendong which claimed at least 1000 lives and displaced thousands of residents in Northern Mindanao, the municipal employees here have contributed meager amount as their assistance to them.
On Thursday, the 173 regular, casual, co-terminus and elective employees in this town have shared P150 each as donations for Sendong victims.
Mayor Joselito Piñol said at least P25, 900 were accumulated from the employees. Some job order employees who received their P3000 Christmas bonus also gave their share.
The municipal employees voluntarily donated part of their Christmas bonus following the devastation of floods in Mindanao areas affecting mostly children and elderly.
“This is just meager amount but I am hoping that this will help our people affected by floods,” Mayor Piñol said.
The mayor also gave an undisclose amount for the flood victims. All donations from Mlang have been coursed through the Sta. Teresita parish to ensure that it will reach the affected areas.> Add a comment >
At M’lang roast pork feast, turkeys playing key roles
M’LANG, North Cotabato—Turkeys, while not the main star, are playing a key role in a festival here that would feature 150 roasted pigs to be served to residents in a free food orgy that the mayor said was a form of thanksgiving but which the town’s chief doctor warned could lead to a spike in cases of hypertension.
Mayor Joselito Piñol said residents would feast on at least 150 roasted pigs for the town’s celebration of the Kawayanan Festival and to thank the gods for a bountiful harvest.> Add a comment >

In the opening program, the best practices of Mlang in making our Municipal Blood Program succeed and sustained was requested by the facilitators to be shared to other stakeholders for replication. Key features of our blood program which were most appreciated and considered commendable were our strategies in making our people knew and understood the program through intensive information and education campaign (IEC), multi-sector coordination and community participation, pooling of blood cards at the RHU and storage of blood at Mlang District Hospital for easy access, the municipal counterpart on processing fees of blood units for donors and their families, and most of all, the political will and the exemplary leadership of our Municipal Mayor, Hon. Mlang, North Cotabato – Mr. Camilo Andi, Jr., a website developer and Dean of the College of the Information Technology Education Department of Colegio de Kidapawan, conducted a one-day tutorial session on how to upload and post news in the official website of the Local Government Unit of M’lang on November 19,2011 at the Sangguniang Bayan Session Hall, M’lang, Cotabato. The participants for this activity were the department heads, selected mayor’s office staff and some private individuals who are considered to be computer literate.
