Skills training in making wine from Pomelo, launched in M’lang town

Mlang, North Cotabato (Sep. 08, 2020) Another Skills Training program on food processing was promoted by Governor Nancy Catamco (Gov. Catamco) in M’lang town, Cotabato, in conjunction with the Investment and Promotion Center, Department of Science and Technology (DOST), and Department of Trade and Industry.

The two-day program begins earlier and will end tomorrow (September  8 and 9). The first part of the program is about teaching participants how to make wine, specifically the process of Pomelo wine.

There was a representation of the sectors that participated in the program, with a total of 56 participants.

Sapia Sindatok-Uka (Sapia), Training Program Coordinator (DOST 12), led the teaching of winemaking. “Any fruit can be used to make wine. What matters is that the quality of the ingredients used should be good. The process is easy, ”said Sapia.

One of those in attendance was Mrs. Laila Japitana Platon, a solo parent and member of the Kalipi Women’s Association M’lang chapter. “This is a good opportunity they gave us. Especially and here in our town there are many Pomelo plantations, ”he said.

It is hoped that the production of Pomelo wine will be an opportunity to get to know the town of M’lang better. It is also a good opportunity for the livelihood of the locals, and a good industry that will help for the economic growth of the said town.

The program was promoted with the goal of Gov. Catamco to have “North Cotabato-made” products, which we can be proud of and help build our economy in the face of the pandemic.
